Student Feedback:"I just want to say what an amazing class. I remember talking to my dad months ago about his college experience, and how it shaped his future, and him telling me that most classes that were about his later profession, he completely forgot about and never looked back. The ones that really shaped his future, and the person he is today, were, in essence, critical thinking classes. Your class is one of those classes."
"He is always there for his students, sacrificing hours of his time to help them achieve the grade they want as well as learn a tremendous amount. I have never gotten such insightful philosophy writing help before, not even from the writing center. If I could have rated him higher on the questions about motivating me and showing interest and enthusiasm for student learning, I would have. He is potentially the best teacher I have ever had." "The individual help given and the active class discussions were extremely valuable to the overall learning experience and made it one of the best classes I have ever taken." "Professor Dale was very kind and he showed me that he really cared about my education and how I was doing in the class. You don't find that often." "Nice chin hair." Overall rating: 4.4 out of 5. |
Teaching Philosophy:
Philosophy is integral to all realms of human experience. It engages us at the foundations and frontiers of knowledge and values, in all disciplines and in everyday life. Accordingly, philosophy belongs to all of us. My goal is to help my students, majors and non-majors alike, become better philosophers.
I teach introductory courses in core philosophical problems, ethics, and critical thinking.
I enjoy teaching students with a variety of backgrounds and viewpoints. Philosophy can be a great equalizer -- each of us has something to learn, and something to share. I encourage open, constructive discussion in class. I am available to my students during scheduled drop-in times, by appointment, and via campus email.
